Step 1:  Rethink.  Think before you buy.

Step 2:  Reduce.  Buy less.

Step 3:  Reuse.  Use your things again.  Fix them.  Purchase or rent gently used items.

Step 4.  Recycle.  Recycle as much as you can.

     On Saturday, May 17th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, the Kane County Department of Environmental Management will sponsor a household Hazardous Waste collection event at the Kane County Fairgrounds (please use the west parking lot entrance off of Oak Street). Materials accepted will include: aerosol products, antifreeze, motor oil, gasoline, batteries (auto and household), blacktop sealer, cleaning products/solvents, hobby & photography chemicals, lawn chemicals, pesticides, mercury (thermostats, thermometers, fluorescent tubes), oil-based paints, stains/finishes, and pool chemicals. Please do not bring ammunition or gun powder, biological or medical waste, explosives or fireworkds, farm machinery oil, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, or latex paint.
